Harry Brown was born in Dullingham in 1884, baptised in Dullingham on 3rd February 1884, son of Robert and Priscilla BROWN (née RADFORD ).

1891 census...Aged 7, he was at Cross Green, Dullingham, with his father Robert GREEN [30] labourer; his mother Priscilla [26]; sisters Nelly [5] and Alice [3] and brother Charles [11 months]. His mother was born in Thurlow, Suffolk, the rest of the family were all born in Dullingham.

1901 census...Aged 17, horse keeper, he was at the Cottages near Church, Dullingham, with his widower father (now a navvy with GER), sisters Nellie and Alice, brother Charles and sisters Priscilla [8] and Lillie [4] and brother Robert [6]. The new children all born in Dullingham. His mother had died in 1900

1911 census...Aged 27, farm labourer, he was in Station Road, Dullingham with his widower father (farm labourer), brother Charlie (farm labourer) and sisters Priscilla and Lillie. Robert was lodging with his sister, now Mrs Nellie PETITT at Station Road, Dullingham.

His dependant was sister Lily BROWN, Station Road, Dullingham

His younger brother Robert was killed in France in 1916. see here


He enlisted in Battersea, where he was residing at the time.
The war diary has:-
Lesbouefs 8/10 The battalion was not employed in the attack today made by the 3rd Londons. This attack failed, as did that of the previous day, owing to the unexpected strength of the southern half of the objective. Total casualties during the two days operations - killed 5 Officers and 7 wounded, 114 OR with 47 OR missing..CWGC figures put the battalion's deaths that day as 52, 32 have no identified graves.
